I Wish I Had A Crystal Ball

You do! It’s the Holy Spirit.

It’s easy to get lost in the confusion of decisions. Choices swirl, pros and cons bounce back and forth like ping pong balls, and the perfect answer seems elusive. It’s in moments like these that many have uttered, “I just wish I had a crystal ball! I’ll do whatever it takes as long as I know it’s the right thing to do.”

But how do you know?

Can you relate to this sentiment? This frustration? We certainly can.

What we have come to realize, though, is as Christians, saved by the blood of Christ, the Holy Spirit IS our crystal ball. We need only to seek him out and tap into all that he has to offer. While the Holy Spirit may not, initially, seem as tangible as a sphere of glass which you can hold in your hands, you will find him more ‘real’ in the way he speaks to your heart and soul.

“But the Advocate, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

If you have a need, problem, or decision to make, lay it at God’s feet. Ask him for discernment and direction, and then listen. Yes, we are called to pray, but we are also told to quiet ourselves and hear him. The Holy Spirit may provide direction through your ‘intuition’, a nudge or a tug which prompts you to choose one way over another. You might receive a word of truth from him that you can hear almost as audibly as if he were speaking to you out loud, or he may place a person in your path to guide, direct, and love on you. Whichever the case, listen for an answer and expect the Holy Spirit to respond. He’s the only ‘crystal ball’ you need!
