Lindon and I love meeting new people and always enjoy the friends we make while sharing Declutter Now! at book events. Often, before people realize the book is about more than ‘just’ physical decluttering, they are quick to tell us they don’t have a problem with hoarding or clutter. Most, however, throw their spouse…or sister…or friend right under the bus! You must know that we never ask…the information is just offered.
This conversation invariably leads to a discussion on the ‘rest’ of the book; an opportunity for us to share the seven other areas we speak to decluttering. When people realize Declutter Now! offers such a comprehensive approach, they tend to perk up and listen much more intently, and far less defensively.
It’s then that the eyebrows are raised….light bulbs go off….and the nods of understanding begin.
There is something about the broad spectrum that we cover which allows people to feel it’s okay to be included, almost unrealistic if they’re not ‘clutterers’ in some form or fashion. We ALL have clutter somewhere – even if it’s just a little bit!
We NEVER want ANYONE to feel put on the defensive. We don’t desire to step on toes or hurt feelings. We simply want to share our passion in the hope that if it fits the bill – if it’s the help or inspiration that someone needs – they know it’s available.
This is why we’ve created ‘The Clutter Quiz’ – 10 quick questions designed to help you figure out where you fall on the ‘Clutter Scale’. See the quiz here. It’s meant to be a lighthearted encouragement to help evaluate, and then jumpstart your decluttering journey. Check out Declutter Now! and free yourself from the bondage of clutter; find the hidden joy and freedom in your life today!
Also, join us for the 40 Day Declutter Now! Challenge, beginning Monday, January 28th. ‘LIKE’ us on facebook, http://www.facebook.com/declutternow and receive daily prompts to read or watch the challenge. Just 2-3 minutes a day can change your life!
